CORT recently volunteered at Fort Leavenworth’s fifth annual “Run for the Fallen,” which is a three-mile non-competitive race honoring fallen United States military veterans.
The “Run for the Fallen” originated in 2008, when a small group of runners ran across the country in an effort to raise awareness for United States service members that gave their lives in service to our country. Since the inaugural run, more than 50,000 runners from around the world have logged more than 200,000 miles collectively for the cause.
Every year, Fort Leavenworth continues this tradition by welcoming members of the Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, community to participate in remembrance of the great sacrifices our military makes to protect our freedom. This year, Colonel Andrew Shoffner and Lieutenant General Robert Brown recognized CORT for their volunteer work and support of the historic military reservation with a Medal of Excellence.
CORT also sponsors the Center of Valor and Remembrance at Fort Leavenworth. This room is a special sanctuary allowing community members to honor and remember fallen service members.
CORT is honored to support such a great military post that is committed to serving our nation’s military and their families, as well as the local Fort Leavenworth community.
