On November 1, the Austin community whipped up the best chili it had to offer for CORT’s annual Operation Chili Challenge at the CORT Furniture Rental Showroom and Clearance Center in Austin.
The event was a great success with a total of 14 teams competing for the title of chili champion! Each attendee enjoyed 10 chili samples, and the contestants with the best chili recipes were recognized with trophies and cash prizes including $300 for the first place winner, $200 for the second place winner and $100 for the third place winner.
CORT’s Operation Chili Challenge benefits the Just Because Christmas Project, a non-profit organization established in the 1980s to serve the economically disadvantaged through various giving projects throughout the holiday season. The organization identifies families who do not qualify for traditional holiday support programs and matches them with sponsors who will provide them with nonperishable food items and gifts for children. We are proud to say that this event has raised $10,000 for the Just Because Christmas Project since it began.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for this great event in support of the Just Because Christmas Project! To learn more about the Just Because Christmas, please visit their website.
