With springtime comes spring cleaning and home staging in preparation for the upcoming home selling season. This week a few more of our Twitter friends, all professional home stagers and interior designers, have provided us with spring-inspired home staging tips that will set your property apart.

Karen Otto of Home Star Staging is a nationally-recognized home staging expert. She founded Home Star Staging in 2006 and has become renowned in the home staging industry. When we asked her for some home staging tips for springtime, she gave us a wealth of information:
“Remove your home’s heavy winter layers, dark tones and any reminders of the cold weather we just got away from. Lighter tones for textiles, fresh linens and scents throughout the home can go a long way on a little buck for staging to sell this spring.
Make sure your landscape is lush! Fresh mulch (organic colors like dark brown and soil black are best – don’t let your mulch make a statement!) trimmed hedges and colorful pops of spring flowers in porch pots are welcoming and inviting.
Just because the Pantone 2013 color of the year is Emerald Green doesn’t mean you should paint your walls this color if staging to sell! Use accessories to bring in a fresh pop of color without marrying your walls to it! Better to see green in your wallet than on your walls when selling your home!”

Annie Doherty is an award-winning real estate home manager and interior decorator. She is a trainer, mentor, and Senior Consultant for UK TV’s The House Dr. She works in Sarasota, Florida as well as in the U.K. She had plenty of suggestions when it came to creating a styled home in the spring. Annie suggests stripes, geometrics, bare lighting, resin & wood, big florals, greens, and more. These are big trends in interior design as a whole, so it makes sense to bring them in to update the look of your home as you prepare to sell. Don’t go over the top though. Mixing too many of these in a small space could overwhelm potential buyers.

Interior designer Robin Baron is the founder of Simplifying Fabulous, a blog that explores the influences and inspiration provided by fashion, interior design, and pop culture. She is also a lifestyle and green living expert, and offered easy-to-follow advice for a quick spring home staging update: “Use graphic patterned throw pillows and a few bold colored occasional tables for a fresh look.” Again, these are hot looks in all homes for 2013 so bringing these touches into your house is a great way to update the look without spending too much doing it.
