Support Folds the of Honor Foundation and Military Families this Veterans Day

This Veterans Day, CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway company and the nation’s leading provider of transition services, continues its partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation by inviting members of the public and its customers to donate in support of military families and their education. Simply text “HERO” to 80888 to donate $5 or text “USA” to 80888 to donate $10. This one-time charge will be added to the customer’s mobile phone bill or deducted from a prepaid balance now through Dec. 31.

The texting program is being promoted in all of CORT’s rental and retail showrooms across the United States and through CORT’s social media channels.

Founded by Major Dan Rooney in 2007, the Folds of Honor Foundation provides educational scholarships to dependents and spouses of military service men and women lost or disabled while serving the United States. CORT has been a partner of the Folds of Honor Foundation since 2012. To date, CORT has provided both monetary and product support through various campaigns, including over $125,000 for educational scholarships and furnishings for the first Honor Cottage, a retreat house for military families located on the shore of Skiatook Lake in Sperry, Okla. CORT donated furniture, accessories and housewares to complete the cottage.

“CORT is proud to continue our support of the military through our partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation. Its mission to provide educational scholarships to the families of those who have served our country ties two causes together that are very near and dear to our hearts at CORT,” said Lisa Woodworth, vice president of marketing for CORT. “The texting program makes it easy for people across the U.S. to contribute to a deserving cause that enables students the opportunity for education.”

About Folds of Honor:

More than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Folds of Honor, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to empower deserving military families with educational support and opportunities, is helping fill this gap by providing educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. Created by Major Dan Rooney following his second tour of duty in Iraq in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded more than 7,500 educational scholarships to date.
