CORT and Folds of Honor Foundation Launch Texting Program to Raise Money for Military Families

New campaign allows customers to donate funds towards educational scholarships

As part of CORT’s partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation, the transition services company has introduced a new texting program that allows customers to make a donation for educational scholarships that benefit children and spouses of fallen or severely injured soldiers from the convenience of their mobile phones. Customers can text “CORT” to 27722 and donate $10 to the Folds of Honor. A one-time donation of $10 will be added to the customer’s mobile phone bill or deducted from a prepaid balance.

“CORT is a proud supporter of the Folds of Honor Foundation and a longtime supporter of the military,” said Lisa Woodworth, vice president of marketing of CORT. “This new texting program will allow CORT customers to be a part of our mission to better the lives of the families of our nation’s heroes and provide deserving students with scholarships to the school of their choice.”

The texting program is being promoted in all of CORT’s rental and retail showrooms across the United States. Customers can text a donation from now until December 31, 2013.

Founded by Major Dan Rooney in 2007, the Folds of Honor Foundation provides educational scholarships to dependents and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our nation. As part of the partnership, CORT is providing monetary support to Folds of Honor Foundation. In addition, CORT is donating furniture, accessories and housewares to the first Folds of Honor Foundation’s Honor Cottage located in Sperry, Okla., which is a retreat house where military families can kick back and relax away from the challenges of everyday life. The Honor Cottage is expected to be completed by Independence Day 2013.

About Folds of Honor

More than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Folds of Honor, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to empower deserving military families with educational support and opportunities, is helping fill this gap by providing educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. Created by Major Dan Rooney following his second tour of duty in Iraq in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded more than 3,800 educational scholarships to date.
