CORT Recognized as Business of the Year in Houston

In recognition of CORT’s ongoing work to support those suffering from homelessness in Houston and surrounding areas, the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston and Harris County recently honored CORT as Business of the Year at the organization’s annual World Homeless Day Awards Reception. Todd Shell, national manager of supportive housing at CORT, attended the event on behalf of CORT because of his efforts to help bring awareness to homeless issues in the community through donations and volunteering at the Coalition of the Homeless.

“We are extremely honored and humbled to receive the award for Business of the Year,” said Shell. “The Coalition for the Homeless is making a great impact on the Houston community by supporting individuals and families seeking safe, stable housing and CORT is truly grateful to be a part of their important work.”

Houston organizations and leaders submitted nominees for the World Homeless Day Awards in September, and the final award recipients were put to a vote by the Coalition for the Homeless Board.

More than 300 guests, including Coalition for the Homeless staff, The Way Home partner organizations and honorees, gathered for the reception at The Ballroom at Bayou Place for light bites and cocktails and an update from Coalition President and CEO Marilyn Brown. Guests celebrated more than 30 World Homeless Day award recipients for their critical work to solve homelessness in the Greater Houston area.
