CORT Hosts Family Cookout to Support Memphis Students

Parents are aware that back-to-school season comes with a cost. However, did you know that the school supply list for elementary students can cost over $600 per student? According to a 2017 report, parents spend an average of $1,000 on back-to-school supplies. That’s equivalent to an average U.S. mortgage payment!

To alleviate back-to-school costs for families in Memphis, Tennessee, CORT organized a family cookout to gather supplies for local Shelby County Schools. More than 50 community members stopped by the CORT Furniture Rental and Clearance Center Showroom located at 6400 Shelby View Drive to donate supplies, including paper, pencils, glue and more, to benefit local elementary, middle and high school students. Attendees enjoyed food, refreshments and the chance to win fun prizes while browsing great deals on furniture and accessories.

“We are always excited for the opportunity to give back to local families and help make the community stronger,” said Tiffany Banks, Account Representative, CORT. “Everyone at the cookout was happy to support Memphis students and have a great time in honor of the back-to-school season.”
