CORT Commits $50,000 to Folds of Honor Foundation in 2014

CORT, the nation’s leading provider of transition services, is proud to announce that it is continuing its partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation in 2014 by providing scholarships and serving as the exclusive furniture provider for the foundation. Founded by Major Dan Rooney in 2007, Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to dependents and spouses of fallen or severely injured soldiers across the United States.

“We are thrilled to have CORT as a partner again this year and for their commitment to our organization and to the military families that we serve,” said Major Dan Rooney. “We had a record-breaking year, and it is because of the generosity of companies like CORT that we have been able to provide scholarships to even more deserving families.”

Last year, CORT provided both monetary and product support to Folds of Honor Foundation. Through various campaigns, the company donated over $70,000 through educational scholarships and by furnishing the first Honor Cottage, a retreat house for military families located on the shore of Skiatook Lake in Sperry, Okla. CORT donated furniture, accessories and housewares to complete the cottage.

“For more than 40 years, CORT has been committed to supporting and honoring military personnel and their families,” said Jeff Pederson, president and CEO of CORT. “CORT is extremely proud of its partnership with Folds of Honor Foundation and we look forward to continuing to bring awareness to all of the great things they do for military families and being a part of making the dream of having an education a reality for Folds of Honor scholarship recipients.”

The Folds of Honor application enrollment period runs from February 1 through April 30. To learn more about the Folds of Honor Foundation or to apply for a scholarship, please visit www.foldsofhonor.org. Visit www.cort.com to learn more about CORT. To read about the Honor Cottage go to our blog.

About Folds of Honor:

More than one million dependents have been affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these, 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. Folds of Honor, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to empower deserving military families with educational support and opportunities, is helping fill this gap by providing educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. Created by Major Dan Rooney following his second tour of duty in Iraq in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded more than 5,500 educational scholarships to date.
